Starting off the semester with a bang…
February 15th, 2009Here’s the semester line-up so far:
The Call center and Library Tutoring have begun…Please check the website for specific details. Contact Saurabh Arya if you are interested in tutoring at the call center (event is twice a week during the week) and you can contact Sukhdeep Kaur or Harsha Chandnani if you would like to tutor at the Portsmoth Library (event is every Saturday). The Call Canter and the Library Tutoring visits occur every week- rain or shine; so if you make a commitment, please come out!
The Grange (home for the elderly)- we will be having a carnival/health clinic at the Grange on Feb. 24th which is a Sunday- this is located just few minutes past Portsmouth and transportation will be provided- playing games with the resident, chatting, and eating food are the activities that are on the menu. It will be great opportunity to relax, bring your clinical side out by interviewing and taking blood pressure…sounds like fun! if you are interested, please contact Ria Parcellano or Sarah Assem.
International/Coffee Talk- the International division of PHR will be coming together with the Coffee Talk division to show the movie “Born into Brothels” it will be shown in Tuesday of next week (Feb 17th) in room 2B at 7pm. we will be having a discussion after the film, as well as a guest speaker! This is a great film (has received excellent reviews and International awards). Popcorn and juice will be served!! Please contact Sukhdeep Kaur or KatyaKosiv@yahoo.com with any questions.
We will have a game booth at the culture show/carnival and a fundraiser for the Kimberly Fund. PHR tshirts will also be sold at the booth if you are interested. Please stop by to have some fun with us and do charity work at the same time as all proceeds will go to Dario Martinez and his chemotherapy treatment!
Health Clinic with Neuroscience- PHR will be taking part in this semesters health clinic at Roseau, hosted by Neuroscience Society (this is very much appreciated). They are kind enough to allow us to represent ourselves- this is an excellent opportunity for all the semesters. The more experience you get now, the easier the practicals will get during the 3rd and 4th semesters (short term
) as well as interacting with patients during rotations. We will be taking 8 members on March 14th (Saturday and we will have shifts). This is first come, first serve…So if you are interested, please contact Sukhdeep Kaur.
We will be getting new shirts for PHR this semester in the upcoming 2 weeks and they will be sold by the Shacks ATM area. All proceeds will go to the Kimberly Fund. Look out for this!!!
These are just a couple of events that are coming up soon so look out for them. Hope will keep you guys posted with our other activities or any changes to these events!
